Why isn't my podiatry practice booking more new patients?

Most podiatry practices in Australia have the same four problems, and a shortage of people searching isn't one of them. In Melbourne alone, people search for a podiatrist about 9,900 times a month, and even in Geelong it's about 800. The fix is the right marketing for your practice's size, in the right order.

What's going wrong now

  • Known for nail care, not heel pain or orthotics
  • Paying for SEO or Google Ads with no bookings to show
  • Heel pain searches going to the physio down the road
  • Relying on GP plans that cover five visits a year

What our clients get

  • More heel pain, orthotics and sports patients booking
  • You know what every new patient costs you
  • Heel pain patients find you on Google Maps first
  • Private patients booking straight into your diary

We can't promise a number of new patients. No one can. This is what we see again and again with past clients.

Case study · A chiropractor in Mackay

Our nearest proof: a chiropractor in Mackay went from 5.9 to 9.3 online bookings a day

It's a chiropractic practice, not podiatry, but patients find it the way they find a podiatrist: on Google Maps, then they book online. With three chiropractors it was already on rung two and running Google Ads. We rebuilt the website, linked every service to the Google profile, and left the Google Ads exactly as they were.

  • Online bookings a day5.99.3First 10 days after launch
  • Completed online bookings292351Six weeks before and after launch
  • Cost per booking from Google Ads$15.62$13.82Same ads, same $2,558 spend

They'd been paying for SEO before the rebuild. The new website did so well that they stopped the SEO, as we recommend on rung two, then got so busy they cut back their Google Ads too.

First, a podiatry website that books new patients

Every other service stands on your website and the Google Business Profile linked to it. For most practices with one or two podiatrists, that pair is all the marketing they need, so it's usually where we start. We confirm it on the call, because some podiatry practices are the exception.

  • A page for every foot problem

Heel pain, ingrown toenails, orthotics, diabetic feet, kids' feet and sports injuries each get a page, so you stop being the nail clinic.

  • Google Maps, linked to every service

Each service on your Google Business Profile points to its own page, so you show up for heel pain, not just “podiatrist”.

  • No “specialising in” slip-ups

The Podiatry Board calls “specialising in foot care” misleading. We check every word against its rules before anything goes live.

  • Booking the right appointment

New patients book straight into Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal or your own system, with nail care, orthotics or a biomechanical assessment already picked.

More podiatry marketing services we provide

When the website is booking patients, we also run Google Ads, SEO, Google Maps care and AI SEO for podiatry practices. Google Ads comes in when you add podiatrists, and SEO when you add disciplines or clinics.

The New Patient Growth Ladder for podiatrists

One or two podiatrists? Most of the time, a website linked to Google Maps is all you need. Adding podiatrists? Add Google Ads to fill their diaries. Adding physio, another discipline or a second clinic? Add SEO.

  1. 2+ disciplines and/or 2+ clinicsRung 3: + SEO
  2. 3+ podiatristsRung 2: + Google Ads
  3. 1–2 podiatristsRung 1: Website + Google MapsStart here

AI SEO starts on rung one, with your website, and grows on rung three. The ladder is the rule. On the call we check which rung your podiatry practice is on, because there are always exceptions.

Why podiatrists work with us

  • We start with what you're known for

We interview you first, so your marketing leads with the work you want more of, whether that's heel pain, sports or kids' feet.

  • Written inside the Board's rules

Every page and ad is checked against the Podiatry Board's advertising guidance: no clinical testimonials, no “specialising in”, no comparing your fees or results with other clinics.

  • Measured in bookings

You see new patient bookings and what each one costs, by service, not rankings and clicks.

  • Only what your practice needs

A solo podiatrist hears they're on rung one. We won't sell you Google Ads or SEO before your practice is ready.

  • Works with your booking system

Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal, Splose, Power Diary or whatever your clinic runs on.

  • You own everything

Your website, its pages and your Google profile stay yours. No lock-in, and nothing to hand back.

Podiatry marketing questions practice owners ask

How much does podiatry marketing cost?

It depends on which services your podiatry practice needs, and we can't know that until we've looked, so we work it out with you on a free New Patient Growth Call. Most practices with one or two podiatrists only need rung one: a website and Google Maps, paid once. Google Ads and SEO are monthly, and we only suggest them when you're ready.

Do I need SEO or Google Ads for my podiatry clinic?

Usually not yet. A podiatry clinic with one or two podiatrists at one location gets most of its new patients from Google Maps and the website behind it. Google Ads fits when you add podiatrists and need their diaries filled. SEO fits when you add disciplines like physio, or open a second clinic. That's the New Patient Growth Ladder, and the call confirms your rung.

How do I get more private patients, not just GP referrals?

Get found for the foot problem, not only the profession. A GP chronic condition plan covers up to five Medicare allied health visits a year, shared across every discipline, so it rarely fills a podiatry diary on its own. Private patients search for heel pain, ingrown toenails or orthotics, choose from Google Maps and book online. A page for each, linked to your Google profile, brings them in alongside your referrals.

How do I compete with physios for heel pain patients?

Explain what a podiatrist does for heel pain, in plain words. Someone with plantar fasciitis often doesn't know whether to see a physio or a podiatrist, and most podiatry websites never tell them. We write pages on how you assess heel pain, where orthotics fit in and what the first appointment involves, without knocking physios. A patient who understands your approach books with more confidence.

Can I say I specialise in heel pain or sports podiatry?

No. The Podiatry Board says the only podiatry specialty is podiatric surgery, and it names “specialising in foot care”, “specialising in nail surgery” and “specialising in pain” as misleading claims. You can say which problems you treat and where your experience lies, as long as it's accurate. We write every page, ad and review request that way before anything goes live.

Do you work with Cliniko, Halaxy or Splose?

Yes. We work with every booking system podiatry practices use, including Cliniko, Halaxy, Nookal, Splose, Power Diary and Coreplus. Patients still book in your system. We change what happens before it, so a new patient lands in the right appointment type: general nail care, an orthotics assessment or a diabetic foot check.

How do I sell custom orthotics when the chemist sells insoles?

Show what the assessment involves. About 4,400 Australians a month search for “plantar fascia inserts”, and as many again for “orthotic insole plantar fasciitis”, and most of them end up on a chemist or shoe shop website. A page that explains your biomechanical assessment, who it suits and what the orthotic review covers gives those people a reason to book a podiatrist.

How long before my podiatry practice sees more bookings?

That depends on the service. A new website can lift bookings within days: our chiropractor in Mackay went from 5.9 to 9.3 online bookings a day straight after launch. Google Ads work from the day they start. Google Maps and SEO build over months. We can't promise a number of new patients. No one can. But this is what we see again and again with past clients.

What happens on the New Patient Growth Call?

Thirty minutes on Zoom with Marlon. We look at your podiatry practice the way a new patient does: what Google Maps and ChatGPT show, then your website and your booking steps. Then we tell you which rung of the ladder you're on and the next step. If you don't need us, we'll say so.
